The most famous character of the Cuban revolution, in the world, is of course the Che. But there is another protagonist who lost out on the hero image because he died too soon –and in weird circumstances, in 1959, in a “plane crash”. Camilo Cienfuegos was apparently more popular than Che Guevara at the time, but they were both great friends –the Museo de la Revolución had an entire section dedicated to their friendship when I went.
